Updates

Tidecube, a clearer battle screen, and fire that can't touch Zilla

Three things changed this week: a new Evermon, a battle screen that's easier to read, and one big change to the type chart. The Everdex is up to 86.

Tidecube is a block of sea that froze with the waves still inside it. It's Frost and Tide, it's about as tall as a grown-up, and it thaws a little when it gets angry, which is why it's always dripping.

It's uncommon, so you won't meet one every day. It's slow, but it's one of the hardest Evermon to hit early on, and it fights with Frost, Tide, Normal and Fist moves. Its biggest move is brand new:

Tip of the Iceberg

Frost100 dmg · 3 uses

What you see coming is only the small part. The rest of it arrives a moment later.

What you see coming is only the small part. The rest of it arrives a moment later.

Watch out for Bolt, Stone, Fist and Metal moves, which all hit Tidecube twice as hard. Its rare colours are amethyst purple.

A battle screen that explains itself

The move buttons used to say things like "80 dmg · 28+ · 5/5", which only made sense if someone had already told you what the numbers meant. Now every move spells it out:

  • Dmg is how hard it hits.
  • Hit is the number you need to roll to land it. Lower is easier.
  • Uses is how many times you can still use it this battle.

The button also tells you in words when a move is super effective (in green) or barely scratches (in red). And if a move does something extra, like freezing the foe or making it flinch, that's written right on the button too.

Underneath the moves, the other choices now sit under their own heading, Instead of attacking, and each one says what it does: "Try to catch it", "Send in another", "Use an item", "Leave the battle".

Better on a phone

On a phone, a really tall Evermon used to stand right in front of the other one's health bar, so you couldn't see how much HP it had left. The health bars now always stay on top, and giants like Destructious shrink just enough to fit underneath them.

On a big computer screen, the battle no longer stretches across the whole monitor. It stays a comfortable size in the middle, with your moves right under the fight.

Fire can't touch Zilla

This one's a big change to the type chart: Flame moves now have no effect on Zilla at all. It used to be half damage.

If you've been using a Flame Evermon against Zilla ones, it's time to swap. Tide, Dragon and Zilla moves all still hit Zilla twice as hard, so bring one of those instead.
