How a turn works
Pick your move
Both players choose in secret, then roll for who goes first — Speed tilts it, priority beats it.
Roll 2d10
Roll high, add your hit bonus, and beat the defender's Defense. A natural 96+ always crits; 1–5 always fumbles.
Deal the damage
The move does the damage written on it, multiplied by the type chart. Then check for burns, poison, and the rest.
Choose a first partner
Every player starts with one. Each grows into something very different.
Tortillious
Tortillious is a cute little Evermon that looks like a burrito. It seems to have one eye, but in fact it has no eyes at all — it uses its Psyche powers to project the illusion of an eye, so that it looks like a real Evermon.
Ramious
A block of old wood that grew a snout and a pair of horns and decided to go places. It settles every disagreement the same way, head down and horns first. The moss on its legs is the only part of it that has ever been patient.
Furhug
Soaked through, always, and it has never once seemed to mind. It greets everything with a hug, which is lovely right up until you notice the claws. Nobody has seen a face under that point of fur, and it is not in a hurry to show you one.
Ready when you are
Make a trainer, pick a first partner, and take the road. Catch what you meet, raise it, and see what it becomes. Two of you can share a keyboard and settle it properly.
