If your Evermon kept falling behind the trainers on the road, it wasn't you. The game was paying too little experience, and paying it to the wrong Evermon. That's fixed, and there's a new place to catch up too.
What was going wrong
One trainer told us they'd reached stop 62 on Hard with their best Evermon at Lv.31, against trainers bringing Lv.40. When we worked out what the old rules would do over the whole road, we got almost exactly the same answer. It wasn't bad luck. Two rules were working against you:
- A trainer fight only paid for their last Evermon. Beat a team of five and you were paid as if you'd beaten one.
- Only the Evermon still standing got anything. If a fight ended with one or two of yours on their feet, those two got all the experience and everyone else stayed at the level they joined you at.
So the strong got a little stronger, the rest got nothing, and the road slowly pulled ahead.
What happens now
- Every Evermon you beat counts. Beat a team of five and you're paid for all five.
- Your whole party shares it equally, including any that were knocked out along the way. They were in the fight too.
- Knocked out still means knocked out. An Evermon that levels up while it's down keeps the experience and the new level, but it stays down until you Rest or use a Revive.
- It's still shared, not copied. A party of six splits one prize six ways, so a big party doesn't level six times faster than a small one.
- Losing still pays a little, a third of what winning would have, so a tough trainer is a setback rather than a dead end.
Worked out over the whole road, a party now keeps level with the trainers on Hard, and stays a little ahead of them on Normal.
The Training Ground
There are three places to go now, and each one is for something different:
| What it's for | What you get | |
|---|---|---|
| The road | Your journey | Experience, credits, items, and the next stop |
| The wild area | Catching Evermon | A quarter of the experience |
| The Training Ground | Levelling up | Full experience, and nothing else |
You'll find the Training Ground on the road screen, just under the wild area. Press Spar and a sparring partner brings one Evermon for each of yours, at the same level. Your strongest faces something its own size, and so does the one you caught yesterday.
Sparring pays full experience to your whole party, as many times as you like. It doesn't pay credits, it doesn't count as a win, and it never moves you along the road. It's there for when the road gets ahead of you.
And the XP bar tells you how far to go
Under every XP bar you'll now see exactly how much experience the next level needs, like 135 XP to Lv.8. No more guessing whether one more fight will do it.
If you were already behind
Only fights from today pay the new way, so your party starts where it is. But the gap closes fast now. A few trips to the Training Ground, and your whole party will be ready for the road again.
